I use Anki with mostly pre-made decks (correcting mistakes when discovered) and only a couple of my own ones. This works for me, as building a deck from scratch, especially for something you don't know anything about yet, is more effort than I could ever find enough energy for. I only wish there were more curated high-quality decks for things, and I'd even happily pay for them now, but alas.

Which is to say, to each their own. I find it strange that people often insist that one way of learning or using a piece of software is objectively better than all other ways.
