I'll concede that it's not quite an apples to apples comparison (for a variety of reasons) but the availability of quality, cheap cars nowadays is nearly unmatched.

1970s Honda Civics were TINY, 9 inch wheels, they looked like toys. A 2020 Civic is a low end luxury car.
